TAUNTON-based Albert Goodman has celebrated 150 years with MP Rebecca Pow.
The Taunton Deane representative visited the accountancy firm earlier this month to meet their latest group of trainees.
Albert Goodman took on 12 new starters to its trainee programme in September last year.
Rebecca Pow said: “I was delighted to visit Albert Goodman and to meet so many of their enterprising young people who are on a range of apprenticeships and traineeships.
“Albert Goodman is making a really important contribution by skilling up young people through a variety of programmes.
“I applaud their enterprising schemes, which are helping to boost the local economy – especially when many of these young people choose to remain in the local area.
“The Government has set a target for three million apprenticeships by 2020 and Albert Goodman is making a valuable contribution towards this.”
The accountancy firm’s trainees undergo professional exams alongside active work on client accounts, with several of the firm’s Partners starting as trainees.
David Griffin, managing partner at Albert Goodman, said: “We are whole-heartedly committed to the development of all our employees.
“Our staff are our greatest asset and that is why we continue to invest in their professional development.
“We work extremely hard to ensure young professionals have the opportunity to excel in their careers, whilst staying in the heart of the South West.
“We are very proud of our training programme and look forward to the success of the new trainees and the next 150 years of Albert Goodman.”
While based in Taunton, the firm also has offices in Chard, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth and provides accountancy, tax and financial planning advice to private individuals and small to medium sized enterprises.
