FIREFIGHTERS fought through the night to control a barn fire on a farm in Stoke St Gregory.
Crews were called to the incident in Slough Lane at 7.45pm yesterday (Monday, September 29).
Three fire engines and a water carrier were called out and on arrival firefighters found a hay barn well alight.
They called for two more engines.
The 400sq m barn contained around 200 tonnes of hay.
Crews surrounded adjacent buildings, cooling them to make sure that the fire didnt spread, while the electricity supply was disconnected by Western Power.
All livestock were removed from the area and protection was provided to a 2000-litre oil tank and a 1800-litre diesel tank, while crews allowed the hay to burn in a controlled manner.
Relief crews were requested for 1am.
