FIREFIGHTERS and an ambulance crew from Yeovil were mobilised after a van exploded, engulfing the driver in flames today.
The van exploded outside a property in Allingham Road, Yeovil at around midday.
A fire service spokesperson said: "A gentleman inside the van was momentarily engulfed in flames resulting in mild burns to his face and neck.
"The crews initially treated the casualty on scene until the arrival of the paramedics who then conveyed him to hospital.
"The van was severely damaged following the explosion that had resulted in the windscreen being blown off along with the doors buckling outward and further damage.
"The explosion is believed to have happened when the vehicle was turned on reacting with cleaning product vapours."
The cause of the explosion is believed to have been accidental. Firefighters made the vehicle safe before leaving the scene.
