FILMING has started on a second series of the hit show Emergency: Medics', which is based at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
The series, which was first aired last summer, shows life in the accident and emergency department of the hospital.
And as the first series was so popular, with 150,000 viewers per episode, a second series is now underway.
Andrew Brown is making the series for ITV.
He said: "The first series showed what A and E is really like.
"It is not Casualty, ER or Holby City, it is more real: both sadder and happier.
"I am hoping that the second series will go further in explaining what goes on in a busy, successful A and E department."
The TV series has been welcomed by the hospital.
Cliff Mann, clinical lead for emergency medicine at Musgrove Park, said: "This is an excellent department and the staff here do an astonishing job every single day.
"Andrew works very carefully and after a while both staff and some patients forget he is here.
"The vast majority of patients were happy to be filmed and very happy with the results.
"I hope that the series follows on from the success of the first one by helping the public understand what a modern A and E service is like."
The new series will be shown on ITV West and ITV Westcountry in September 2007.
