DAISY the rescue dog didn't win any prizes, but he certainly captured Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow's heart.
Ms Pow paired with Dogs Trust five-year-old shih tzu to compete against other politicians for the title of Westminster Dog of the Year 2016.
But her campaigning and canvassing for votes was less successful than her efforts in the 2015 General Election as the pair failed to rank at the event in Victoria Tower Gardens, in Westminster.
Ms Pow said: "As co-chairman of the All Party Group on Animal Welfare, I always make a concerted effort to speak up on issues of animal welfare.
"I was delighted to be able to take part in this year’s competition with the very cute Daisy to help raise the profile of the valuable work of both the Dogs Trust and the Kennel Club.
"This year’s theme was education and I urge my constituents to look at the Dogs Trust’s ‘Be Dog Smart’ guidance, which is helping to educating young people about dog ownership."
