A VAN fire spread to a hedge prompting action from firefighters.
A crew from Chard was called to Stant Way, in Combe St Nicholas, at around 1.30pm on Monday (June 8).
A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "One fire appliance from Chard attended a van on fire which was well alight on arrival and spreading to an adjoining hedge.
"Crews requested the assistance of the second appliance from Chard.
"Crews put the fire out using two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera."
The cause of the fire was deemed as accidental, they added, and the fire severely damaged the van, 50m of hedgerow and 100 square metres of field.
