A BODY has been found near Bowleaze Cove, Weymouth, in the search for a missing woman from Yeovil.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that, whilst no formal identification had been made, the next of kin had been informed.
It comes after a major search last night following the discovery of a missing woman's car at Bowleaze Cove in Dorset.
Police and coastguard crews were tasked to the search for a missing 33-year-old from Yeovil.
Her car had been spotted along the coast early in the evening and a coastguard helicopter was seen scanning the area nearby.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're sorry to confirm that a search for a missing woman from Yeovil has led to the discovery of a body near Bowleaze Cove, Dorset.
"While there's not yet been any formal identification, the next of kin have been informed and are being supported, and our thoughts are with them."
Dorset Police have now taken the lead in the investigation.
