CLARKS Shoes has issued a statement regarding the closure of its Taunton store on the High Street.
The company has told the County Gazette that its focus now is on working with staff after the closure.
A Clarks spokesperson said: “Clarks confirms its store in Taunton, will close at the beginning of November 2022.
"We have a strong duty of care to all our employees, and we are working closely with the store team as they now go through a period of consultation."
A staff member from the Taunton store confirmed that the store closed its doors on Tuesday, November 1.
Clarks added that for the time being, customers can visit their other stores in the area.
"Customers can continue to shop from our full range of products online and at our nearby Clarks stores in Honiton, Yeovil and Exeter.”
Rumours persist that the shoe brand will open at a new location in the town centre.
However when the County Gazette spoke with Clarks about the future of the brand in Taunton, they did not comment on any plans.
The company also didn't comment the reasons as to why the store is closing.
