THIS weekend's Taunton Pride event has been postponed due to forecast heavy and continuous rain.

The directors of Taunton Pride CIC have this afternoon (Thursday, July 20) taken the tough decision -  along with other events in Somerset - to postpone Saturday's event planned for Vivary Park and the Pride March from Goodland Gardens beforehand.

It will be re-arranged for a later date, which is expected to be announced next week.

Patch Jobson, of Taunton Pride, said: "This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, but with rain forecast for the whole of the event and growing issues with people getting to the event due to train strikes, the team do not feel that we can bring you the event that we had planned and designed.

"Our plan is to now put this weekend on hold and work with our partners to find another date later this summer to move the event to where hopefully the weather will be what we had expected."

All tickets will remain valid, and will be transferred to the new date when set. If at this point you are unable to attend a full refund can be requested.

Mr Jobson added: "Again, we are sorry to have made this decision and hope you can understand.

"Our priority has always been to ensure you have the best, and safest experience possible, and with the adverse weather conditions forecast we cannot achieve this."
