A CHOIR of 100 children will launch the last late night shopping evening for Christmas shoppers in Taunton.
The pupils from Parkfield and Holy Trinity Primary School will sing a medley of traditional choirs from 7pm in the town centre on Thursday, December 17.
Taunton Christians Together are organising the ‘Heart of Christmas’ evening of festive fun, including performances from Creech St Michael Baptist Church puppet theatre, St James’ Church drama team and a dance group for North Street Church.
Music will be provided by Reflections group, accompanying an rock choir.
Adrian Prior-Sankey is compering the evening in his final engagement as TCT chairman before stepping down in the New Year.
He said: “At the centre of Christmas there is so much more than shopping, partying or over-eating.
“The crux of the story is a point in history when everything changed forever.
“Our multi-faceted presentation will try and reflect something of the joy and profound significance of the arrival of Jesus in human history.”
Volunteers from a number of churches will be on hand again to offer a free Christmas present wrapping service.
‘The Heart of Christmas’ will be preceded at 6pm by a ‘Light up a Life’ short service organised by St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.
