SEEING the world is one thing, but doing something you love and getting paid while you do it is something Tom Austen has always dreamed of.
When he left Taunton’s Queen’s College six years ago to pursue his acting career, even he had no idea what was to come.
He set off for new pastures and ended up learning the art of his trade at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama - something that would change his life forever.
Now 24, He’s just landed a role in E4’s hit series Beaver Falls, where he will play a new character introduced to season two, named Mac.
The British-comedy drama follows the lives of graduates who moved to exclusive American summer camp, Beaver Falls.
"It's my first series in the show and I'm looking forward to seeing it," said Tom, who is currently filming in Paris with critically-acclaimed Godzilla and Mission: Impossible actor Jean Reno.
"I've heard it is much better than the original series!" he joked.
The budding star has also shone in highly popular cult shows Shameless and Misfits, which gripped audiences across the UK.
With an undoubtedly bright future on the horizon, Tom paid tribute to those that gave him the opportunity to live his dream at a younger age.
He added: "I wasn’t very good at much else and the school gave me some great opportunities. Originally I started travelling up to London every week for auditions and eventually I got the breakthrough.
"My parents still live in Taunton. I moved up to London but now I’m all over the place – it’s great.
“I love shooting on site which we are at the moment; a lot of the work is outdoors and next week we’ll be filming at the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame.
“In the last year I’ve filmed in Budapest, Beijing and now Paris. I’ve never wanted to do anything but be an actor.”
See Tom in season two of Beaver Falls, which airs on E4 later this year.
