FIREFIGHTERS were called to reports of a fire on a passenger train at Taunton Station earlier today, Saturday, March 21.
Staff alerted the brigade after noticing smoke issuing from the engine at the front of an empty train.
Fire crews located the electrical fire in a passenger carriage after getting the call at 6.42am.
A block was placed on the line preventing other trains arriving to ensure the safety of firefighters, who quickly had the situation under control.
Damage was confined to electrical wiring and jumper cables between the carriages.
