LONGRUN Meadow played host to 243 runners on a cold and wet day last Saturday, with a female overall winner for the first time in its history.
There were 16 newcomers to the Parkrun, and visitors to Longrun Meadow from Carlisle, Hull, Plymouth, Brighton and the Isle of Wight.
For the first time in the event's history (since October 2013), the first runner over the finish line was female – Hannah Taunton.
Hannah, who had been first female many times before but never first overall, posted a time of 17:45, just missing her personal best by four seconds – she recorded that PB of 17:41 four weeks ago, breaking 18 minutes for the first time.
Taunton Athletic Club member Hannah, 25, is currently ranked as the 72nd fastest woman nationally in Parkrun, having participated in 121 Parkruns, 112 of them at Longrun Meadow.
In the next few months she is scheduled to run at events including the Wellington Monument 10k (December), Stoke Stampede 10k (January), Hestercombe Humdinger Half Marathon (February) and Bath Half Marathon (March).
Second in Saturday's Parkrun was Chris Hamilton in 18:04, followed by Elliot Haimes (18:37).
Second female was Emma Kiernan (20:09), while Sophia Wilson was third lady in 20:47.
There were 18 PBs, including those by Matthew Harker, Robert Turner, Nicole Wyatt, Heather Mayne, Andy George, Michael Threlfall, Steve Upham and Nat Prowse, while Ella Pal ran her 50th Parkrun.
