DANIELLE Waterman has confirmed that she will miss Saturday's Women's Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand, after her head injury in England's semi-final win over France.
The Taunton and Minehead star tweeted: "Devastated beyond words to miss the chance of playing in what would've been my fourth final, but proud to have played my part for this team.
"Thank you for all the support and well wishes.
"I am doing fine, there just isn't long enough a time frame to complete my RTP [return to play].
"Make sure you join me in backing this exceptionally special team to finish the job on Saturday!"
Waterman was near ever-present for England at the tournament, the only player to start every match as they defeated Spain, Italy, the USA and France to reach Saturday's title decider (7.45pm kick-off, shown live on ITV).
Her tweets followed an announcement from the England camp which said: "Danielle Waterman suffered a concussion during last night’s Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-final against France.
"Waterman was removed from the field of play in the first half of the match.
"As a result she will no longer play a part in England’s Rugby World Cup Final against New Zealand on Saturday."
England head coach Simon Middleton said: “It’s disappointing to lose Danielle ahead of the final; she has delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament and has been a highly-valued member of the squad.
"However, we have a number of strong options available to us as we begin preparing for Saturday’s final against New Zealand.”
