SOMERSET spinner Jack Leach has suffered a broken thumb on his left hand, the day before England announce their squad for the Test series against Pakistan later this month.
Leach was injured while batting in the nets ahead of the fourth day of Somerset's County Championship match with Hampshire today.
Jamie Overton was called in as substitute while Leach was assessed, with the news about his injury coming through at lunchtime.

The England selectors are set to meet tomorrow to name the squad to face Pakistan, with Leach in prime position to claim a place after his promising debut against New Zealand in March.
Although it is not yet known how long Leach will be out of action, it looks like this stroke of bad luck will cost him his England spot.
