LAST Sunday saw the return of the wonderful Vegan Market to Taunton’s Goodland Gardens.
This is the third year that the plant-based event has been visiting the town and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day!
The rain and clouds paused their unending barrage for the day and myself and all the other vendors were very thankful.
There was a great mix of food stalls, stands for organisations such as Greenpeace raising awareness for their causes, and also small businesses like mine, My Carbon Coach, the sustainable living shop, to browse and maybe buy from.
Spread out on both the area in front of the Shed and up on the grass area it had a real festival vibe with live music throughout the market too!
Personal highlights were the stuffed cookie stand, really creative, very sweet and just delicious. For my lunch in between chatting to customers I tried one of the vegan hotdogs topped with fried onions and also crispy bits and it was stunning, you honestly wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in a taste test with a meat version.
Whether you’re vegan or not who doesn’t like a slow sunny Sunday mooching around a beautiful part of Taunton, maybe trying something to eat you wouldn’t normally go for, and seeing some talented makers, crafters and stallholders at the same time.
You never know you might be inspired to give meat-free Mondays a go sometime!
The Vegan Market will be back in Taunton on Sunday, July 7, but my little eco shop is available all year round at 18 Lower Middle Street in the Independent Quarter.
