On October 24, I tried to ring the Somerset Patient Transport Service to arrange for transport for an appointment at Harefield Hospital in Middlesex.
23 years ago I had a heart and double lung transplant and have regular appointments in London.
This is the only way I can attend these outpatients' appointments, as I do not drive and have no one else I can ask to take me the 350-mile round trip.
My appointment is for November 4, so imagine my surprise and frustration when yet again the telephone system has been changed, so now you can no longer speak to a person to arrange the bookings.
I am now really worried that the transport service won't ring me back in time for my appointment.
This service has been getting steadily worse since the pandemic and doesn't look like it will get any better any time soon.
There is a lack of people to answer the phones, a lack of volunteers to drive patients to the hospitals, all in all it's utter chaos.
