BURGESS John, who has died aged 94, will be remembered for his 22 years as a lecturer at SCAT (formerly Taunton Tech.) between 1966 and '88. During this time, his involvement in numerous outdoor pursuits and expeditions led to his starting the family business, 'John Burgess Rucksacks', which he ran with his late wife, Jean, for over thirty years. He was also a long-standing and active member of the local Merchant Navy Association. John is survived by his three children and two grandchildren. The funeral will take place at Taunton Crematorium at 12:00 on Tuesday 22nd March.
