THE versatility of the county’s best-loved fruit was celebrated in Carhampton on Saturday.
People of all ages descended on the village for its 21st annual Apple Day, held a day before the national date.
The event, organised by the Carhampton Village Hall Committee and the Community Orchard Committee, featured stalls which showcased everything from chutneymaking to apple pressing.
Lunches, teas, a raffle and games for children were also on offer.
Village hall committee secretary Judith Norton said: “We have been going for more than 20 years now, so we must be doing something right.
“Attendance was slightly down on previous years but all in all it was a very good day.
“Organising it is hard work but definitely worth it and we look forward to next year’s event.”
