PEOPLE in Taunton, Wellington and West Somerset are being asked to help raise cash for a machine which will improve radiation treatment for cancer patients.
The Somerset Unit for Radiation Equipment (SURE) appeal needs £450,000 for the synergy imaging system for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Latest donations include: £400 from Summerfield Developments; £80 from former Beacon patient Mrs V. Way, who requested donations instead of presents when she turned 50; £25 from Norman Tomkies; £10 from Mr and Mrs Fallows; and £10 from Mr and Mrs Lee.
Collections of 5p coins include: £149.80 from the Beacon Centre; and £15 from Mrs Hancock.
The total raised this week means £304,358 has been raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette.
