READERS of this site travelling to Italy next year will be pleased to know they will be going with the UK’s top company.

Our reader travel provider, Newmarket Holidays, followed up their 2011 accolade for Best Coach Operator by picking up the Best Overall Tour Operator to Italy trophy at the British Travel Awards.

Voted for by members of the British public, the BTAs saw Newmarket also shortlisted for Best Coach Operator and Best Operator to the USA.

Newmarket’s Andy Jones, who has overseen the company’s holiday programme throughout the Mediterranean for the past 15 years, said: “Our staff and agents in Italy can feel justly proud of this achievement, which is well deserved.

“It is especially gratifying to know that this award was voted for by the travelling public, who have shown their support and appreciation for our holidays over many years.”

The awards ceremony in London’s Battersea Park was hosted by comedian and actor Hugh Dennis, and attended by hundreds of the UK travel industry’s biggest names.

Newmarket Holidays has been a leading supplier of reader travel offers since its creation in 1983, employing nearly 200 people at its headquarters in southwest London, and the award comes as the company– whose Italian range includes a huge selection of resort-based holidays and escorted tours throughout the Italian peninsular – looks towards yet more celebrations marking its 30th anniversary in 2013.

As well as the Italian programme, Newmarket operates a huge range of other holidays, including regional airport departures and cruises, to a vast selection of destinations across the globe.
