EXTRA sparkle was added to this year’s Christmas Fair organised by The Rotary Club of Minehead.
In addition to a wide range of stalls selling crafts, food, drink and festive gifts, the Santa Fun Run and Santa Saunta also proved very popular.
The wet weather failed to dampen the spirits of more than 50 contestants of all ages who donned their red Santa suits and ran around the West Somerset Community College grounds.
Rotarian David Paveling said: “I was amazed at the laughter and good spirits as people braved the rain and had a go. This was the first time we have held a Santa Run and we are really pleased at the way the folk of Minehead and local schools responded.”
All entrants received a certificate and the first three runners in each age category were presented with medals.
Event organiser Delia Paveling said: “There was a lovely atmosphere on the day. Feedback from the stall holders was very positive, including comments that the family fun element added to the festive feeling. They are keen to support us again next year.”
Proceeds from the day will go to a number of charities the Rotary Club supports, while runners’ sponsorship money will be divided between these and entrants’ own choices.
