WELLINGTON School has announced Henry Price as its next headmaster.
Mr Price will replace Martin Reader who is moving to Cranleigh School, Surrey, in September 2014.
He is currently the senior housemaster at Rugby School in Warwickshire.
Mr Price said: “It is a great privilege to have been appointed as the next head of Wellington School and the Price family are looking forward to becoming a part of the school and broader community of Wellington.
“I am extremely excited about working in an environment where academic excellence and intellectual fulfilment are nurtured, but also where there is a wonderful breadth of extra-curricular involvement and a clear sense of values.
“The sense of pride and affection for Wellington is clear from everyone that I have met and I feel very fortunate to be inheriting such a flourishing school and leading it forward in the years ahead.”
Mr Reader announced last December that he was stepping down after eight years to move closer to family.
His successor has been at Rugby School for 12 years and has four young children with his wife Mary.
He started his teaching career at Sydney Grammar School before moving on to Sherborne.
Phil Nunnerley, chairman of the governing body at Wellington, said: “I am delighted with this appointment and believe that Mr Price is the ideal candidate to lead Wellington forward for the next generation of Wellingtonians.
“He is a man of vision, warmth and integrity, and he understands the deep-rooted culture and sense of community that are at the centre of all that Wellington stands for.”
