THE Children’s Carnival procession is being revived this year before Taunton Carnival on Saturday, October 19.

The event has a new route, starting from Enfield Car Park at 2.30pm, with Bishop’s Hull Army Cadets helping with the assembly and marshalling on the route.

The procession will be led by Taunton Deane Mayor Libby Lisgo, Carnival Queen Carley Chapman and her Princess Caitlin Burford, along with Wellington Majorettes.

It will pass along Tower Street, into Castle Green, past the historic cars and Harley-Davidson motorbikes and other attractions, before heading down Castle Bow, North Street and over The Bridge to the Third Way before returning to Enfield Car Park for the presentation of cups and prizes.

Children will be competing in age classes up to 16, with categories for individuals, pairs or groups and an open class for wheeled or motorised floats, with entries taken up to 2pm on the day – entry forms are available by e-mailing emilyskerr@hotmail.co.uk The event was cancelled last year due to changes in the Taunton Carnival route.
