ONION Collective CIC, a social enterprise working towards creating a “stronger future for Watchet”, has moved into its new offices.
It is now based at the Mayfly Studio in Swain Street, and the group is welcoming anyone interested in the work it does and with any ideas.
Onion Collective has begun preparing a proposal for developing key areas in Watchet.
These include space on the East Quay and the youth club site for community and economic benefit.
Ideas will be informed by a series of community consultations over the next few weeks with businesses, tourism providers and community groups.
You can also get involved by taking part in a five-minute survey at www.onioncollective.co.uk or visiting their office.
They will also have a market stall on Wednesday, May 14, and there are comment postcards at the Corner House Café, Watchet Museum and Watchet Railway Station.
Onion Collective director Rachel Kelly said: “The consultations are about sharing knowledge and identifying people’s priorities for the future of Watchet.
“We want to create a plan for Watchet based on the ideas and aspirations of the people who live and work here.
“By collecting local knowledge and ideas as well as understanding the challenges we face we can create a proposal for Watchet informed by those who know the town best.
“We have to be realistic – our proposal will need to be economically viable and we won’t be able to do everything everyone wants us to, but we’re optimistic that we can create something really exciting for the town that will give it a stronger future.”
The proposal will be prepared and ready for autumn/winter 2014 in time to apply for funding grants to take the project forward.
