ROLLING skirmishes, weaponry and even an encampment of the English Civil War dominated the scene at Dunster Castle over the weekend.
The Taunton Garrison presented its Civil War Weekend and plenty of visitors descended to Dunster’s iconic castle to enjoy what was on offer.
Visitor services manager John Lax said: “It was a brilliant weekend, the weather definitely helped a brilliant weekend, the weather definitely helped – it’s never as much fun doing these things in the pouring rain.
“We had almost 1,000 visitors on Sunday and everyone really enjoyed what was on offer.
“A particular favourite was when the canon demonstration was shown.
“We learnt how canons were loaded, what was used and why everything had to be packed down.
“The firing was earsplittingly loud but it was very interesting and I certainly learned a lot.”
