A FUN day at Victoria Park Bowling Club, in Bridgwater, raised £600 for Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE).
It helped the County Gazette-backed charity – which helps equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital - raise over £1,000 last week.
And there’s more to come as banking giant Lloyd’s has agreed to match fund the £600 raised.
Other donations received include £200 from Martin Rawstorne, of Ilminster; £20 from R. H. Stiling; £20 from Gladys Harris; and £20 from the Parochial Church Council of St Mary's Woolavington.
Collection pots brought in £38.75 at the Old Sale Rooms, Wellington; £7.08 at the Esplanade Fish Bar, in Burnham; £14.87 from Goldsmiths, in Burnham; and £25.50 from Sainsbury’s, in Hurdle Way, Taunton.
There was £5 in 5p coins from Creech St Michael WI; £10 from Charlene; and £112.12, including £106.10 in 5ps, from the Beacon Centre.
The total of £1,073.32 plus the £600 from Lloyds takes the amount raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette to £436,407.64.
