THE League of Friends’ Garden, Art and Food Fair at Huntsham Court, near Sampford Peverell, drew several hundred visitors who enjoyed cream tea and tours of the fascinating house.

They were able to buy from nearly 30 stands selling a range of art, craft, vintage and antiques, French pottery, blacksmith, and plants galore and wonderful bread and pastries from the Sourdough Company.

Art included Melanie Deegan’s wonderful life sized sculptures placed around the garden and Libby Newman’s colourful outside paintings for a point of focus in the garden.

All Saints Church in Huntsham was open all day welcoming visitors and the Troyte bell ringers volunteered and rang a full peel from the bell tower 2.30-3pm to support the event.

The fun included music, with Shaun Newman playing classical guitar in the garden, whilst John Young and Giles Adams played the grand piano in the Great Hall whilst people enjoyed tea.

Throughout the day tea, scones, sandwiches and cakes were served from the butler's pantry by volunteers lead by caterer Tricia Hay. These were enjoyed in the Great Hall accompanied by piano, or on the terraces outside with panoramic views and peels of church bells across the meadows.

The event raised £2,228 for the league, which supports Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.
