THIS dab hand in the kitchen used her culinary skills to scoop a top competition.
Emily Morrison, a pupil at Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington, served up an all-in-one roast in a Masterchef-style cook-off during the My Best School Dinner competition.
Emily’s inventive design and neat presentation impressed the judges at Frogmary Green Farm in South Petherton, meaning her meal will now be featured on school menus during the autumn term.
The competition, organised by Somerset County Council, is aimed at getting children and families more involved in the process of school dinners.
Contestants were asked to come up with a nutritionallybalanced meal that they would enjoy eating themselves.
Cooks were aged between five and 15 and produced a variety of meals, from lasagne to a tomato and basil tart.
Rachael Parker, health promotion manager at Somerset County Council and one of the judges, said: “The children were lovely, the standard of the food was incredible and the team did an amazing job.”
