POLICE cracking down on underage drinking have seized a number of fake driving licences from underage people trying to get into pubs and clubs in the Taunton area.
Officers warn they will confiscate ID items such as passports and driving licences if they are used fraudulently.
Posters are being displayed and circulated at licensed premises in a bid to get the message across.
A police spokeswoman said: “A number of fake driving licences have been seized recently at point of entry and door staff are working with police to be extra vigilant during the school holidays.
“Using false or fake ID is a criminal offence and can lead to serious consequences.
“This is a warning to all persons under the age of 18 not to try and gain entry to licensed premises as you will be refused entry and your ID will be confiscated and passed to police.
“Attempting to enter premises with ID that you know includes false information, or ID that belongs to another person, is an offence and you may be prosecuted under Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006.”
