MUSIC is going to be even more dominant in Jim Pagington’s life after he was appointed musical director of Wiveliscombe Town Band.
Jim (above), a member of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors, has been a brass player for over 50 years, conducting for more than 30.
He is currently a tuba player with Weston Brass as well as playing sousaphone with his village jazz group in Ashcott.
He said: “It’s a privilege to be asked to direct such a delightful group of players – they’re keen to progress and enjoy their playing.
“I’m hoping to include some formal concerts in the band’s programme and to attract more players to the band, both experienced players and beginners.”
Jim replaces Charles Donald, who stepped down as conductor after more than 25 years and now concentrates on playing his cornet.
The band is looking to recruit experienced players and beginners in all sections – to join call chairman Ann Wilson on 01984-624806.
