ONE of Taunton’s proudest specs wearers was honoured on Tuesday as she took a step closer to winning a national prize.
Michaela Williams, aged 47, was chosen from hundreds of entries from across the South West to win the regional round of the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award.
The grand prize is £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas.
The awards, which celebrate specs wearers from the UK and the Republic of Ireland, were launched by Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh.
The glittering spectacle will be held in London on Sunday, October 5, and all category winners will win a VIP makeover, while one overall winner will be taking home the ultimate accolade in specs wearing.
