BISHOPS Lydeard Primary School has introduced a creative learning day once a term called ‘Wonder Wednesday’.
The aim is to develop independent learning in a cross curricular and engaging way that meets the needs of all pupils.
Each class receives a box with a mystery item which the pupils and staff see for the first time at the start of the day.
The children then plan and implement their own idea into the lessons for that day.
Among the items they had in their boxes for the recent initiative were a leaf, a fireman’s helmet, a potato and a toy rocket.
Some of the activities they competed were building a model of the Houses of Parliament, making chips, bonfire night safety and a visit up the church tower.
