MEMBERS of Taunton Vale Golf Club have handed over £3,715.11 to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment charity following several fundraising events over the last year.
The money from the County Gazette-backed SURE will be used to help equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Other donations include £623.23 from Eastgate Gardens Residents Association from coffee mornings and raffles; £280 from Phyl Jewell's 70th birthday party; £100 from Mr Tomkies; and £100 as a personal donation from Phyl Jewell.
There was also £41.50 from Paul Alway; £25 from Miss Thorne; and a further £10 from Roger Bowers sponsored walk.
Collection of 5p coins included £126.45 from the Beacon Centre and £5.30 from Mr and Mrs Young.
Collection boxes totalled £30.90 from the Taunton Market; £22.53 from the Norton Fish and Chip Shop; £20.35 from Pyrland Farm Shop; £14.95 from Skipton Building Society and £3.81 from Wellington Road Esso Garage.
This week’s total of £5,119 means £472,626 has been raised since SURE teamed up with the County Gazette.
