KINGSMEAD School welcomed parents, staff and governors to an evening celebrating the achievements of students who left in the summer.
Guest speaker Ben North, a former Kingsmead student, who is now scheme project manager for the High Speed Rail Development Team based in London, spoke of his memories of the school and how he achieved not only academically but also learnt the importance of building friendships, being part of the community, and following your hopes and desires.
The evening saw achievement awards presented in academic subjects and sports. The Peace Cup for outstanding modern foreign language learning was also awarded to Lucy Byrne and the Flook Cup for the best all-rounder was presented to Jamie Highfield.
Kingsmead has a large number of students who take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and they were presented with their bronze awards by Trish Wedlake, Somerset Youth and Community Service field officer and Jeff Brown, development officer.
Musical entertainment was provided by current student Sally Glanfield, who sang “Not about Angels” by Birdy.
