THE chairman of the Lawns Social Club in Mary Street, Taunton, says the club “has no intention of closing”, contrary to a recent “vicious” rumour.

Graham Wyburn has moved to set the record straight after a number of people phoned to cancel bookings on the back of the rumour.

He said: “We’ve got no intention of closing – I don’t know where this vicious rumour has come from.

“People have been phoning up to cancel their bookings with us because they’ve heard we are closing – but we’re not closing, of course we’re not.

“I just want to let people know that and set the record straight.”
