YOUNG volunteers from YMCA in Taunton have been doing their bit to help others.
Last week eight volunteers joined other volunteers from across Somerset at a training residential funded by Somerset County Council youth service.
During the weekend they engaged in a series of challenging workshops and activities and planned for the future of the YMCA Youth Club.
Workshops included communication and body language, starting a community project, responding to complex situations and planning and development. Volunteers also prepared a twocourse Easter lunch on Monday for senior members of the community.
Zara Coulson, child and youth development worker at the YMCA, said: “This was a fantastic weekend and a powerful opportunity for our young volunteers to meet new people, share good practice and be accredited for their achievements.
“Taunton YMCA young volunteers support our junior youth club, birthday parties, fundraising and holiday activities.”
