A TAUNTON author is celebrating the huge success of her latest book.
Beth Webb has already written 12 books and her latest addition, Star Dancer, aimed at the teen to adult age-group, has taken off in a way she never imagined.
Based very heavily on the Somerset levels the book is a fantasy set in Iron Age Britain during the Roman occupation. Star Dancer is the first in a series of four books and has secured Beth a six-figure deal.
She said: "Star Dancer was something I had written in my spare time and it became this mega superstar book that everybody's raving about.
"I didn't think it was going anywhere, I feel as if someone has stuck me on the London Eye and kept me at the top.
"It's quite scary but in an exciting way."
The other books in the series are Fire Dreamer, out in September, Wave Hunter, out in 2008 and Stone Keeper which is out in 2009.
Beth studied psychology and sociology at university, lived on a houseboat in Amsterdam and travelled around Europe for three years before returning to England and settling in Taunton.
