TWO PEOPLE have been taken to hospital after police and fire engines were called to a car on fire near Taunton in the early hours of this morning.
Two fire engines were called after a car crashed into a wall, was overturned and caught fire in Maidenbrook Lane, Cheddon Fitzpaine, by Avon and Somerset Police shortly before 2.30am.
On arrival, crews confirmed the car was "well alight", but that all four people involved were free and clear of the vehicle.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said they were called out at around 2.20am to the crash involving one car, which was overturned and on fire.
Two people were taken to hospital as crews put out the fire using hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.
A spokesman for the police said the car was recovered at around 10am and the road reopened.
