THE HEAD of Somerset’s businesses has outlined its plan for the county for the next three years in a new business manifesto.
Somerset Chamber of Commerce has launched its manifesto for 2017-2020, which covers key topics relevant to the community including skills, infrastructure, international trade and Hinkley Point C.
Dale Edwards, chief executive of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “Our vision at Somerset Chamber of Commerce is to be a catalyst to grow and support a vibrant Somerset economy.
“We have created this manifesto in order to articulate the challenges and opportunities the Somerset business community faces, along with the associated priorities that the Chamber will act upon.
“Clearly, following the recent announcement of a general election, and along with our affiliated town chambers, our immediate focus will be on engaging with election candidates and then working with the county’s newly elected or re-elected MPs to ensure that they take on board the priorities for the local economy and the key focuses outlined for the next three years.
“This will enable us to work together to grow a vibrant Somerset economy.”
A copy of the manifesto has been sent to the British Chambers of Commerce and Somerset Chamber will be engaging with them and business organisations across the region to develop and progress the priorities and initiatives outlined within the document.
