FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire that broke out in a man's bedroom in Wellington last night.
Crews were sent to the scene on Penny Close shortly after 8pm yesterday evening (Thursday, September 7), and on arrival called for an ambulance to treat a man for smoke inhalation.
The firefighters administed oxygen to the man prior to the ambulance's arrival.
The fire had broken out from discarded smoking material in a first floor rear bedroom.
The team managed to extinguish the blaze using two jets while wearing breathing apparatus and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
A positive pressure fan was also used to ventilate the property afterwards.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The casualty was treated on scene by paramedics and did not require conveying to hospital. The cause of the fire was accidental."
