FIREFIGHTERS were called to a property in Wellington after reports of an alarm sounding inside a property.
Two fire engines from Wellington rushed to the property on Pyles Thorne Lane at 5.30pm on October 3 after the caller who reported the fire could see that the windows inside the property were blackened and believed there was a candle alight inside.
On arrival crews confirmed that there was a fire in a front bedroom and that the occupants were not home.
Firefighters forced entry into the property and got to work with two breathing apparatus wearers, a thermal imaging camera and a hose reel jet investigating.
The fire was caused by a candle being left unattended and the crews removed the candle to open air.
The damage was confined to the candle and there was a small amount of smoke damage to a nearby blind.
