THREE properties were smoke damaged after a fire broke out in Wrantage.
Two fire engines from Taunton, one fire appliance from Wellington and one fire engine and Wiveliscombe were set to the incident in Wrantage.
When fire crews arrived, the officer in charge confirmed that a fire was believed to have spread to two other neighbouring properties.
Crews got to work to extinguish the fire using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.
Another fire crew from Taunton was called to attend the scene as three properties were involved in the fire and more help was needed to ventilate the buildings.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Within the 1st property, crews used chimney gear to cool the chimney breast and a thermal imaging camera to monitor temperatures within property.
"This property had approximately 10 per cent damage from the smoke.
"Within the 2nd property, the fire involved a joist between the ground floor and first floor ceiling that had been burning undetected by the occupant.
"The fire was extinguished with the use of 4 breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and a safety jet.
"This property had approximately 20 per cent damage from the fire and approximately 40 per cent damage from the smoke.
"Within the 3rd property, there was slight smoke logging due to smoke travel therefore the crews used positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke.
"This property had approximately 10 per cent damage from the smoke."
Crews used positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke in all the properties.
Once the crew had fully extinguished the fire and made all the properties were, the duty of care was handed over to occupants.
