A display of children's art, writing competitions, and photography exhibitions will be on offer at the fourth Porlock Arts Festival, which takes place next month.

Among new attractions are a craft crawl', when local crafts people will stage open-house presentations of their work and techniques, including basket making, beadwork and silver jewellery, pottery, wood sculpture, painting, textiles and felting, and Poet's Corner, giving aspiring poets an opportunity to share a piece of their own poetry as well as choosing a favourite piece by a well known poet.

Other events planned for the four-day festival include a talk by Somerset county archivist Tom Mayberry, author of Coleridge and Wordsworth in the West Country', followed by a five-hour scenic walk led by Brian Pearce, writer and information officer for Exmoor National Park.

Walkers can follow in the footsteps of poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge from Porlock Weir through Culbone towards Ash Farm, where he was staying when he wrote Kubla Khan and was famously interrupted by a person from Porlock'.

Local author Victoria Eveleigh is due to talk about her best-selling children's series Katy's Exmoor', and Marian Mathews will talk about her book This Country Road', in which she writes about the experiences of Exmoor World War Two Land Girl, Mary Norton, who will also be present.

Porlock Arts Festival takes place between September 20-23.
