THOUSANDS of visitors will journey back in time to the Middle Ages as part of a huge fundraising event in Bishops Lydeard next month.
The Medieval Fayre around St Mary's is in support of a project to create a community exhibition and concert area in the north aisle of the church.
The event features several activities, including birds of prey, jousting, encampments, archery and a climbing wall on Saturday, September 8.
There will also be marquees housing modern crafts and traditional and medieval crafts.
And a church service on the site will be conducted at 9am the following day by the Bishop of Taunton, the Rt Rev Peter Maurice.
Bishops Lydeard rector the Rev Michael Wishart promised this year's event is even more spectacular than one held two years ago.
Referring to the planned community exhibition and concert area, he added: "St Mary's has served the community for hundreds of years and we hope will do so for hundreds more.
"But, what's the point in having such a lovely building if it's only used twice a week?"
