TAUNTON MP Jeremy Browne and his wife of three years are to divorce.
The MP, aged 37, blamed pressure of work for the "amicable" split from Charlotte, 28, who works for the BBC.
The couple do not have any children.
Mr Browne said: "Separating from your spouse and long-term companion requires huge adjustments and is very difficult.
"As people who have been in the same position will know, there are many emotions, including a sense of emptiness and grief.
"There are no straightforward explanations or easy answers," said Mr Browne.
"My role as the MP and Charlotte's job with the BBC are both very demanding and all-consuming in the commitment that they require.
"That does put pressure on a relationship over time."
Mr Browne promised constituents the split will not impact on his work as an MP.
