FUN, interest and excitement for all the family is promised by the organisers of the 161st Dunster Show, which takes place on Friday, August 17.
While cattle and sheep will be missing from the show due to the outbreak of food-and-mouth disease in Surrey last week, horses will be the main theme, with a record entry.
There will also be rural crafts, country clothing stands and agricultural machinery to look at, as well as ferret racing, archery and laser shooting, falconry demonstrations, a heavy horse display, the popular Pony Club mounted games, a Young Farmers Association tug o' war, and the National Festival Circus.
Speaking to the County Gazette, Ed Downs, of the show committee, said organisers were in close contact with the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs following clampdown on the movement of sheep and cattle after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease at a farm near Guildford.
"We are going to put on a great show, with plenty of entertainments for the whole family, and we hope people will come and support it just as they have done in the past.
"Numbers of horse entries are at a record high, and we are going to carry on."
Parking at the show, at Dunster Lawns, off the A39, will be free to help relieve congestion.
Entrance to the show is £8 for adults and £3 for children under14.
The show opens at 8am.
