WEST Somerset's biggest tourist attraction looks to be steaming towards another record year.

Railway bosses say the West Somerset Railway is seeing rising passenger numbers as well as more business generally.

General manager, Paul Conibeare, said: "We have had an excellent first seven months in terms of increasing passenger numbers and general expansion of the business.

"The number of excursion trains operating to and from the WSR from the main line network has grown considerably, and the work on the turning triangle at Norton Fitzwarren, and the Minehead turntable, should enhance this still further in years to come.

"We have a number of special events in the Autumn, including the Real Ale Festival on September 15-16th and our Autumn Steam Gala between October 4-7.

"We are even beginning to get bookings for the Santa Special' trains coming in."

BLOB: The railway will run a vintage bus link from Dunster Station to the Dunster Show on Friday August 17.
