A CAR on the back of a recovery lorry was badly damaged in a motorway fire in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Fire crews were called to the blaze on the M5 southbound between Junction 24 (North Petherton) and 25 (Taunton) shortly after midnight.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they saw the smoke billowing from the car and immediately got to work extinguishing it.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Once the crew had fully extinguished the fire the vehicle was made safe and this incident was handed back over to the owner of the vehicle.
"The vehicle was 70 per cent damaged by the fire and the cause of the fire was accidental."
