PARENTS in Somerset are today (Wednesday) being urged to stop their children playing with potentially dangerous toys which have now been pulled from shop shelves.
US toy giant Mattel has recalled 18.2million products worldwide, including two million from Britain, amid fears they contain excessive lead.
Woolworths has removed from sale and recalled four products - Dora Figures in a Tube, Sarge Die-Cast Car (single), Sarge Die-Cast Car (double-pack) and Barbie and Tanner.
People who bought these products are being urged to stop using them and return them as soon as possible to a Woolworths store to claim a full refund.
Woolworths says all its other Mattel products were unaffected.
A spokesman for W.H.Smith's said: "The only Mattel lines that we stock are board games. We do not stock any of the lines that are being recalled and we never have."
Mattel blames the crisis on a Chinese company which was subcontracted to paint its toys, and which Mattel says used paint from a non-authorised supplier.
Mattel says it is now improving the way its products are made and tested.
Customers with concerns about Mattel products can call 01628-500303.
